See this race cannot be run alone
We simply cannot make it, on our own
God wasn’t playing games when he gave us his son
He knew only by grace would the race be won.
So just stop trying to make it all by yourself
A true disciple knows of his inadequacy himself,
The beauty of salvation, we’ve discovered to be grace
The theologians say, it means God in the race.
I say, it is an unearned exemption from destruction
So how can we truly escape, if we neglect the central theme of salvation?
See, this race I can’t run alone
You’d be daft; if you think you can make it on your own
I have stopped struggling to make it by myself
You’d be very wise, if you know of your inadequacy yourself.
