‘Solving Problems’- Wole Soetan

Acts 13:36 (WNT) For David, after having been useful to his own generation in accordance with God’s purpose, did fall asleep, was gathered to his forefathers, and did undergo decay.

You were created not merely to be counted but to count in this generation. There is a God-given specific assignment for which you were designed and deployed on earth. A cry came forth from the earth which made your coming necessary.

It is written of David here that he was useful to his generation. The nation was a better place because David stood up to the responsibilities he was called unto. Israel had a giant-sized problem in the valley of Elah for forty days (1 Sam 17). They had the problem of needing a musician to play and calm the king (1 Sam 16:23). There was eventually the challenge of top leadership which David also solved. David stood up and was a solution to these problems.

Life is truly said to have been lived when you have been useful to your generation, solving problems. People who are relevant solved problems, eased pains and filled gaps. How are you solving problems where you are? Is your workplace better because you are there? Are you easing your boss’s pain and making his/her work easier? Are your neighbours glad to live around you? Is praise going up daily on the account of what you do?
